Well this is where we try and update you to exactly what has happened in the League as of the months July - September 2009.
We were meandering happily along running a facility that allowed players to play each other in small pools of like ability groups and we hit upon the idea of running a tournament for the 85 people who were all in the League. Our way of giving somehting back as it were.
As we knew basically what amounted to nothing about this kind of thing we contacted our NGB who were helpfull and helped us chose a route so that everyone got what they wanted, we get a sanctioned League and Tournament should we require to run one at any stage and they get everyone affiliated to BadmintonScotland.
Yes the more structured among you will notice that most of the players are or were in fact already affiliated through other Clubs, Leagues & Coaches Register etc but we needed to remain beyond reproach so have followed along the following route
We are in the process of registering the League as a fully sanctioned League in Scotland, this cost us nothing but we were required to ensure all of our players were affiliated to BadmintonScotland
Our next issue was how do we check that all of our players are affiliated? Well we asked of course and it turns out that many of you were not affiliated despite what you think! This gave us what amounted to a massive headache! Do we see teh League crumble becasue approx two thirds of its players were not affiliated or do we do something about it?
Yes, we decided to do something about it, our options were to force everyone to affiliate costing £20.00 each as an individual affiliation or to think a smarter way round the issue. We have come up with what we think is a smart way around everyone being forced to pay another £20.00. We are in the process of registering a club (SSL Club) as a tournament Club with maximum levels of affiliations and simply we will affiliate each player through this club as a tournament player.
Ok, now we have a league and a club! How do we tie the two together?
In order to play in any League you need to be part of a memeber Club, this League happens only to have one member Club as it is singles based, if you are a memeber of this Club you are affiliated when you pay your Admin fee. We hope that this is the simple answer and we have thought long and hard to please everyone within the rules, as this is a work in progress we will keep you up to date but we think we are nearly there.
